This class is suitable for runners, cyclists, triathletes and recreational athletes (or
aspiring athletes) of all abilities.
Yoga for the Mindful Athlete will help improve both your
physical and mental performance, by creating balance, equilibrium and an increased
sense of mind/body awareness.

As endurance athletes, we work the same muscle groups repetitively, which can lead to injury, chronic tension and imbalance in the body. Yoga asana can help increase
flexibility, range of motion, core strength and, ultimately, help to align and re-balance your physical body.

Yoga and meditation are excellent ways to develop our capacity to be mindful. As athletes, mindfulness can help us observe our experience without being at the mercy of
it, to stay present throughout a race/event, and to be in tune with our body’s subtle messages. Mindfulness has also been linked to lowering cortisol (“stress hormone”)
levels, as well as reducing our experience of “pain.”

As an avid runner, cyclist and triathlete, Jennifer is pleased to be able to offer this class to fellow and aspiring athletes. Jennifer’s personal yoga practice has kept her balanced both physically and emotionally and allowed her to sustain long term involvement in sport. Join this class and let your results speak for themselves!

*Registered students will also receive 10% off their initial massage at Endurahealth

 Yoga for Stress Reduction
“Stress” has become a common factor that most of us accept and live with in the western world.
Increased levels of stress can lead to increased levels of cortisol (responsible for our “fight or
flight” response) and, in the long term, several unpleasant physical, emotional, and mental
conditions.

Yoga for Stress Reduction will use the principles of Yoga and Hakomi (Body-Centred
Psychotherapy) to help you re-establish and nurture a connection with your authentic self.
Using yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, sound,
visualization, and guided relaxation, this class will help you to locate an oasis of peace that is
always available within you. This practice will help you to develop your capacity to slow down, to
be still and to embrace silence.

Benefits of Yoga for Stress Reduction may include increased mental focus and clarity, increased
motivation and energy, increased capacity to experience joy and laughter, and an increased
sense of equanimity.
